California is experiencing heavy rainfall, with forecasts predicting over half a foot of rain in some areas, including Los Angeles, during the Christmas holiday period. The recent wildfires earlier in the year have left certain regions, such as Altadena, particularly vulnerable to flash flooding and mudslides due to burn scars that cannot absorb the rain.

Local authorities, including the LA Sheriff's Department, have gone door to door urging residents to evacuate, while many are collecting sandbags to protect their homes. Despite evacuation orders, some residents are reluctant to leave, recalling previous losses during past disasters. The National Weather Service has warned that the current conditions present a high risk for flash flooding, which could become life-threatening.

At this hour, the big concern out here is that burn scars from wildfires don't soak up rain and so that runoff can quickly trigger flash flooding and mudslides. A powerful storm drenching Southern California overnight, disrupting holiday plans and leaving many in the region on edge. In one of the areas hardest hit by the January wildfires, Altadena, we ran into one homeowner at a sandbag distribution center Tuesday. Weren't planning to spend the holidays this way, were you? Well, I wasn't planning on having to take sandbags up on a roof, but you know, we'll we'll make it happen. While the LA Sheriff's Department went door to door in some areas. Urging residents to evacuate, you guys are going to leave. We are evacuating. OK, perfect. The nasty weather has upended Isabel chance Christmas. We need mercy from weather God. It's it's been. It's been crazy. Crazy fire must lie and rainstorm. And then also we have a lot of fire. It's been crazy. And also we have a lot of personal losses. Despite the dangerous Sheriff's deputy, Emily Bonita says not everyone is willing to leave their home. A lot of the residents have been through a lot so far, so it's a lot of I don't want to leave because last time that I left I came back to basically nothing. What's it like for you going up to these doors and letting them know that their home is at risk for yet another natural disaster?
