A fire broke out in an equipment room of a Telecom Egypt building in downtown Cairo, resulting in 14 people being injured and a temporary disruption of telecom services nationwide. The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority confirmed that the incident led to outages in internet, mobile phone, and online payment services. 

Emergency crews worked for hours to extinguish the blaze, which started on the seventh floor of the ten-story building. The injured were evacuated to hospitals, and the fire was eventually contained. The incident occurred a few kilometers from the site of a deadly train station fire in 2019.

THE FIRE TOOK PLACE A FEW KILOMETERS FROM WHERE A DEADLY BLAZE AT A TRAIN STATION IN 2019 KILLED AT LEAST 25 PEOPLE.
