An MTA bus driver, identified as 35-year-old Andre Reed, has been arrested and charged after striking and killing 87-year-old Seaman Gavant in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn. The incident occurred in June, with Gavant being transported to the hospital in critical condition before succumbing to his injuries.

Reed remained at the scene following the collision and is now facing charges, including failure to yield to a pedestrian and failure to exercise due care. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

We now know that 35-year-old Andre Reed was behind the wheel of an MTA bus that struck and killed 87-year-old Seaman Gavant back in June. Gavant was rushed to the hospital in critical condition and later died from his injuries. Reed did remain at the scene of the accident and now faces charges including failure to yield to a pedestrian and failure to exercise due care.
