A significant warmup is set to bring record-breaking temperatures to large portions of the central United States during Christmas week. Forecasts indicate that temperatures will be 20 to 35 degrees above average in many areas, with over 100 million people expected to experience highs above 70 degrees Fahrenheit.

The warm weather will diminish the likelihood of a white Christmas for most regions, except for mountain areas in the Great Lakes, Sierra, and Pacific Northwest. Dallas is expected to be the only major city with a day slightly below average, while the rest of the region will remain unseasonably warm.

But this is the big heat, 20 to even I'm going to say even 35 degrees above it. I saw a few 34s, 33s above average, so crazy stuff. So you're talking about records back in 1964, hey, it was a good year. 57 for Elko, Casper, 60, I mean, just crushing record highs. 73 Oklahoma City, Fort Smith, 76, 74 at Tulsa, just incredible. And these are highs above 70. And when you're talking about 100 million people, that's a lot in late December. And you're like, well, this map doesn't have a lot of color to it. Well, again, this is above 70. If we were to show you above 50, it would be two, two and a half times as much as we've gotten through here. So the heat gradually builds east for Christmas Day, a very warm Christmas for many, and unfortunately, for those of you that had any kind of inklings of a white Christmas, eh, going by the wayside here, unless you're in ski country, the Great Lakes, or in the Sierra or the Pacific Northwest in the mountain locations. Dallas, the only day below average, and not that much below, is going to be on Monday. Everybody else, like I said, Jordan, looks like St. Patty's Day here. That is wild.
