Polling indicates broad public backing for these reforms, with both coalition and Labor voters in support. While a national royal commission into recent terrorist attacks is not planned, legal experts have called for urgent national action on anti-Semitism, and political leaders continue to debate responses to recent events.

Some of those drafting instructions will be issued tomorrow. Others will be immediately after Christmas. Revealing some of the elements that will form part of the government's gun reform package. Intelligence sharing, import controls for firearms-related goods, new offences relating to 3D-printed firearms. It's a move backed by most Australians. New polling reveals 78% of coalition voters and 80% of Labor voters support tougher gun reforms. The Hate Crimes Database and National Firearms Register is also being fast-tracked, but a federal royal commission into last Sunday's terrorist attack is still not on the agenda. There was no royal commission called by the Howard government after Port Arthur. There was no royal commission called by the Abbott government after the Lent siege. It's not going to happen, so we've got to get on with the one in New South Wales. Despite a push from outside of politics. And the list of people calling for this is growing. 139 former judges and senior barristers signing this open letter, saying anti-Semitism is not only a New South Wales problem, it's an Australian problem. Royal commissions take years and we need to be acting within weeks. It's really as simple as that. But tonight, the federal opposition leader is facing fresh scrutiny over comments she made about the foreign minister in the wake of the Bondi attack. I didn't see Penny Wong attend a single funeral. I haven't seen Penny Wong shed a single tear. I thought that was a disgusting element of an increasingly partisan pile-on in the wake of a national crisis.
