The lax security has caused outrage here. The Louvre management did a very poor job for the last 20 years, not investing in security. Professor Alain Bauer is a French criminologist who told us those arrested are well known to the police. The fact that they've now arrested two suspects, does that make it more likely that the police will be able to recover the jewels? I'm pessimistic about the jewels. I'm optimistic about catching all the thieves. Bauer told us the stolen treasures may have already left France, the gold and silver melted down and the gems cut into smaller, untraceable stones. The French police have a maximum of 96 hours to charge the suspects they've arrested. Meanwhile, at the Louvre, the most visited museum in the world, the scene of the heist has now become a tourist attraction in its own right. Professor Bauer told us that the French police are likely offering those suspects in custody lighter sentences in return for information on the whereabouts of the stolen treasure. I know, Holly.
