Hurricane Melissa rapidly intensified from a Tropical Storm to a Category 4 hurricane in 24 hours and is still undergoing rapid intensification. It is expected to be a Category 5 storm by Monday. Melissa is forecast to bring life-threatening, catastrophic rainfall and storm surge to Jamaica, as well as Haiti and Cuba.

Hurricane Melissa, classified as a category 4 storm with sustained winds of 140 miles per hour, is moving slowly towards Jamaica. The storm's slow pace, now at three miles per hour, is expected to intensify its impact by prolonging exposure to heavy rain and strong winds.

Authorities have issued hurricane warnings for all of Jamaica, with hurricane watches in effect for Cuba and tropical storm warnings for southern Haiti. Areas such as Montego Bay and Kingston are already experiencing increasing wind gusts as the storm approaches.

We're already starting to see again some of the clouds and some of those outer rain bands as well trying to work their way in here as this is a very large storm. You can actually see the clear eye at this point category for 140 mile an hour and the pressure coming in about 953 millibars moving west at three miles an hour. One of the updates on this is the fact that it's slowed down and it was already going slow. Remember we had it at about five miles an hour. Now it's at three miles an hour and that's something that is really posing a problem because again, like I said before, it actually even makes landfall. You have all the impacts already there in terms of all that rain coming in. We also do have the winds as the system gets closer and closer to us. The winds are starting to pick up now. Look at the gusts now around Montego Bay, 41 miles an hour with sustained wind coming in about 26. We're seeing more of the same in Kingston. So again, the winds are starting to pick up as the system gets closer. So we do have those hurricane warnings for Jamaica. We're talking about the entire island there. We have hurricane watches up for Cuba and we're also dealing with tropical storm warnings for the south side of Haiti.
