A lead researcher from Apple's robotics division has left the company to join Meta's robotics team, according to recent reports. This move is part of a broader trend, with several other Apple employees specializing in robotics and artificial intelligence also departing in recent weeks for companies such as Meta, OpenAI, and Anthropic.

While these individuals are not widely known executives, their exits highlight a continuing pattern of talent migration from Apple's advanced technology groups to competitors. Apple has stated its willingness to invest in artificial intelligence talent, but has not made notable hires comparable to those at other firms. The company declined to comment on the recent departures.

Well, we have a news alert. Steve Kovac has that for us. Hey there, Scott. Let's try $3 trillion. But anyway, there is more of this brain drain that we've been seeing from this $3 trillion company. Bloomberg just reporting a handful of other people who work in robotics and artificial intelligence have left the company in recent weeks. Bloomberg naming one person who I've also confirmed, by the way, has been left the robotics division within Apple and left for Meta's robotics team. You might remember Scott Meta had gone on a poaching spree for some of Apple's AI researchers. By the way, speaking of those AI researchers, this report also says some of them have also been leaving in recent weeks to companies like OpenAI, Ananthropic. These aren't necessarily household names or big-time executives that you would normally talk about, Scott, but it is a continuing pattern we're seeing at Apple of these big robotics and AI groups and these bleeding-edge technology groups leaving the company and going elsewhere. I'll just note what Tim Cook told me a few weeks ago when I spoke to him during the earnings report. They are willing to spend on talent in artificial intelligence. We just haven't seen the kind of notable hires at Apple that we've seen at these other companies. In fact, people seem to be leaving out the door. And I'll also note, I just asked Apple comms about this and they declined to comment on the report, Scott.
