In 2020, experts documented more than 24,000 stains, over 9,000 holes and 30 tears in the artwork. The team was led by this conservator. Unfortunately, all transport includes vibration. Even taking all the precautions, such a long journey will inevitably damage the work. The tapestry is set to arrive in the UK in June 2026 before being put on display at the British Museum next September. In the meantime, it's being stored in France in a secret location.
