A birthday message purportedly from Donald Trump to Jeffrey Epstein, dating back to 2003, has been released by the U.S. House Oversight Committee as part of a wider investigation into Epstein's affairs. The card, obtained under subpoena from the Epstein Estate, was shared by Democrats on the committee and reportedly contains a reference to a 'wonderful secret.'

Trump has denied any involvement with the card, stating he does not create drawings and suggesting someone could have used his name. The White House Press Secretary also dismissed the story as false, and Trump has filed a defamation lawsuit against the Wall Street Journal for reporting on the note. Records released also include a message from former President Clinton, and the committee continues to investigate the handling of the Epstein case.

Alleged birthday note from Trump to Epstein released

This was the 50th birthday message, allegedly from President Trump to Jeffrey Epstein in 2003. Years before Epstein was convicted of soliciting prostitution from a minor, the Republican-led U.S. House Oversight Committee obtained the card and a series of other records under subpoena from the Epstein Estate Monday. Democrats on the panel first released an image of it and noted the birthday message closes with a reference to a wonderful secret. Trump has repeatedly denied making the sketch or the card. I don't even know what they're talking about. Now, somebody could have written a letter and used my name, but that's happened a lot. I'm not a drawing person. I don't do drawings of women. That I can tell you. And he filed a $10 billion defamation lawsuit against the Wall Street Journal and its owner for reporting the note's existence. Minutes after the image was released Monday, White House Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt posted that the birthday card story is false and said President Trump did not draw this picture and he did not sign it. During a July interview with Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanch, Epstein's co-conspirator Ghislaine Maxwell acknowledged compiling the birthday book, but claimed not to remember if Trump contributed to it. It's been so long. I want to tell you that I don't remember. I honestly don't remember. Also included in the records released by the Epstein Estate, a birthday message, apparently from former President Clinton, written in 2003 before Epstein was convicted. The House Oversight Committee has been investigating the handling of the investigation and the prosecution of Jeffrey Epstein. They've also subpoenaed records from the Department of Justice, some of which have been released, nearly all of which were already public, Gail. All right, Scott, thank you very much.
