Other highlights from the tournament include Felix Auger-Aliassime's first-ever Grand Slam victory over a top-five seed, setting up a potential quarterfinal clash with de Minaur. Alex Dimonor has joined elite company with his latest victory at the US Open. The Aussie threw to the fourth round to become the fourth player alongside heavyweights Yannick Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic to reach the last 16 at eight of the last nine Grand Slams. Alex Dimonor got more than he bargained for in the opening set against the unseeded German Daniel Altmaier who claimed at 9-7 in a tiebreaker. But the Aussie had other ideas and broke the deadlock with some aggression at the net. And he cashed in by claiming the second set 6-3 and the belief began to grow. The eighth seed was at his most dangerous when he came to the net and looked in the zone in the third. The longer the match went, the better Dimonor played. He went two sets to one up with Panache. Down loved to in the fourth, Altmaier called it a day through injury, giving Dimonor an early passage into the fourth round. The upset of the day came from Felix Auger Aliassime who played the match of his life against Alexander Zverev. The Canadian beat a top five seed in a Grand Slam for the very first time and is on schedule for a quarterfinal match against Dimonor if they both get through the fourth round. Naomi Osaka has recaptured her best form and looked ominous in beating Australia's Daria Kazatkina 6-11 the first. She's went to three but Osaka got through and is back where she belongs at the top. Victory also to Coco Gauff who was too good for Magdalena Fresh. The third seed now plays Osaka for a spot in the final eight. Rob Waters, 10 News.
