Ent Credit Union is providing financial coaching to both members and non-members, encouraging proactive communication with creditors and careful budgeting.

Experts recommend listing essential expenses and cutting non-essential costs, such as streaming services, to better manage limited funds. Additionally, local initiatives like the Denver 7 Gives Fund are available for those wishing to support community members in need.

Advice for managing money during government shutdown

Now, between the snap benefits that are on pause and so many government employees and contractors currently going without payments, we have been hearing from a lot of you on just how tough it is to make ends meet. So we've been looking for some resources that might be able to help. We spoke with Ent Credit Union about some ideas. They told us that they have financial coaching available, whether you are a member or not, and that can be a really good step to help you feel a bit more in control of your finances. We really want to encourage you to get ahead of it. So if you are someone who is maybe on the brink, call all of your creditors ahead of time, even before your payments are due. That's really important because there's not a lot of help that they can offer you after you've missed a payment, but most of them are willing to work with you, especially during these times. So that's Allie Snead. She says a good first step is to write down all your expenses and get it all down to the essentials by cutting some of those things that you may like but don't need.
