Despite the use of infrared drones and ongoing efforts by major crime detectives, no further trace of Gus has been discovered. The case remains classified as a missing persons investigation, and the search is expected to continue for several more days.

The call to return was based on expertise by a search coordinator, medical and survivability specialist about just how far little Gus Lamont could have wandered off. Task Force Horizon has now been established as 80 Australian Defence Force personnel joining the effort. They're concentrating on an area outside the zone already scoured, hoping to find any slice of evidence relating to Gus or even just the direction he may have walked. Just to give you a picture of the scale of the search operation, police say it's around 470 square kilometres, which is equal to 100 Adelaide CBDs. Last week an infrared drone was flown across the expansive sheep grazing property as major crime detectives also re-examined the area. Gus was last seen playing out the front of his grandparents' homestead two and a half weeks ago when he vanished. It is still being treated as a missing persons case. Still the only clue teams have managed to find is a footprint believed to be from Gus's boot about 500 metres from the house, but no trace of him has been uncovered since. It's been an agonising time for the family. I think I would describe them as stoic, but you can imagine just how they're feeling without having Gus and without having answers as to exactly where Gus is and what's happened to him. This would be traumatic for any family. The search is expected to last until the end of the week.
