In the past year, 31 children have died while living on the streets in France.

Solutions are often precarious, as in the case of Raís, who arrived from Romania with his mother. Facing limited options, he was housed at his school. It's a series of strange situations. I'm sitting on Raís' bed as he's going to sleep, but I'm also his teacher. It's created a very unusual bond between us. It's not easy, and it's definitely not a situation that should last. UNICEF says that more social housing is needed to address the growing issue, alongside other measures. We're also calling for the creation of 10,000 additional accommodation spaces in shelters. These solutions would finally enable us to comply with the principles of unconditional access to accommodation, without discriminating between families. It would ensure that children have a roof over their heads. In 2024 in France, 31 children died while living on the street.
