Families, such as that of Anton Volkovich, face significant challenges in locating and retrieving their loved ones, especially as some children have had their names changed or have been moved to different camps across Russia and occupied territories.

Non-profit organizations are working to assist in the return of these children, but experts highlight the difficulty in tracking them due to limited and inaccurate information. Russian officials claim the transfers are for the children's protection, but the International Criminal Court has issued warrants for Russia's president and National Children's Commissioner over the unlawful transfer of children.
