In response to concerns over missed pay for military members, Senate Leader John Thune is considering standalone legislation to provide emergency pay for troops. While Democrats support this measure, House Republican leadership has rejected it, with Speaker Mike Johnson stating it would only serve as a symbolic vote for Democrats.
