The plant, which employs around 1,400 people and is involved in coal-to-coke conversion for steelmaking, experienced the explosions in the reversing room, an area critical to the operation of the facility. Authorities are still investigating the cause of the incident. Air quality tests found no contaminants above federal standards, and a stay-at-home order for nearby residents was lifted after the situation was assessed.
