An officer suffered a serious head injury following a police-involved shooting Thursday night in the Bronx that left an 18-year-old suspect in critical condition, the NYPD said.

An 18-year-old suspect is in critical condition after being shot by police during an attempted arrest in the Bronx. Officers responded to a domestic robbery call, where the suspect allegedly robbed family members at gunpoint. Upon arrival, police set up a barricade and confronted the suspect, who denied involvement. Gunshots were heard, and as officers tried to take the suspect into custody, a struggle ensued, resulting in an officer suffering a head injury and the suspect being shot twice.

Both the officer and the suspect were taken to Jacoby Hospital, with the officer in stable condition and expected to recover. Police recovered a gun at the scene and confirmed that the suspect has a violent criminal history. The suspect remains in critical condition and is expected to face charges.
