Jane Goodall, the celebrated conservationist and scientist, has died at 91. Goodall was known for her pioneering research on chimpanzee behavior in Tanzania, where she observed that chimpanzees use tools, a discovery that challenged previous assumptions about the uniqueness of human behavior. Beginning her career as a secretary, Goodall became an assistant to a paleoanthropologist before launching her own influential fieldwork. 

Throughout her life, Goodall remained active in conservation, founding the Jane Goodall Institute and advocating for wildlife and environmental protection. She continued to speak publicly and participate in media projects well into her 90s, driven by a sense of mission and urgency about the state of the world.
