Texas lawmakers have introduced a bill that would allow private individuals to file lawsuits against anyone involved in the manufacture, mailing, delivery, prescription, or distribution of abortion pills. The proposed legislation would also permit wrongful death lawsuits if the medication results in harm or death to a fetus or the mother. 

The bill seeks to expand existing restrictions in Texas, which already prohibits mailing abortion-inducing drugs, and would allow legal action against those outside the state, including in places with shield laws protecting providers. Legal experts have raised questions about the bill's national implications and whether Texas can enforce such measures beyond its borders. The legislative process may also be affected by ongoing issues in the Texas State House related to redistricting and quorum requirements.
