New York City mayoral candidate Zoran Mamdani, joined by U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren, promoted a plan for free universal childcare for children aged six weeks to five years. Mamdani also proposed raising wages for childcare workers and funding the initiative through increased taxes on billionaires. While the city currently offers childcare vouchers, Mamdani argued these are insufficient for many families facing high costs. 

Senator Warren expressed support for Mamdani's affordability agenda and criticized former Governor Andrew Cuomo's ties to wealthy individuals. Meanwhile, Cuomo, now running as an independent, outlined a separate plan to recruit more NYPD officers with financial incentives, stating the funding would come from the existing city budget. Mamdani, in contrast, suggested ending police overtime but did not commit to raising police salaries.
