Goodall was known for her pioneering research with chimpanzees, notably being the first to observe their use of tools, a behavior previously thought unique to humans. 

According to the Jane Goodall Institute, she died of natural causes while in California on a speaking tour. Goodall's work has had a lasting impact on the scientific community and animal advocacy worldwide.
