Experts and research from the non-partisan KFF indicate that delays and obstacles to abortion care can negatively impact patient safety. Nearly two-thirds of women and a similar proportion of obstetricians and gynecologists express concern about the effects of these restrictions. Despite the ongoing debate, the FDA has approved a generic, lower-cost version of the abortion pill mifepristone, which is available for use in the first ten weeks of pregnancy.
