Ryne Sandberg, a Hall of Fame second baseman known for his long career with the Chicago Cubs, has died at the age of 65 following a battle with cancer. Sandberg was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2005 and had his number 23 retired by the Cubs that same year. 

Baseball commissioner Rob Manfred described Sandberg as a legend of the Chicago Cubs and a beloved figure throughout Major League Baseball. Sandberg's contributions to the sport and his impact on the Chicago community were widely recognized.
