Police have scheduled an autopsy to determine the cause of death, which remains unclear. Authorities confirmed the woman's body had been interfered with by dingoes, but have not linked this to her cause of death. The woman had been working at a local backpacker's hostel for about six weeks prior to the incident.

At this point, Arthie, we know that there is an autopsy that has been scheduled and that authorities in Australia have been in touch with authorities here in Canada so that this 19-year-old woman's family can be notified of what happened. According to Queensland Police, they say that this 19-year-old Canadian had told people that she was going to go out for a swim. This was about 5 a.m. local time on Monday morning. Keep in mind, it's now after 3 a.m. on Tuesday in Australia, but it told people she was going to go out for a swim about 5 in the morning. What used to be called Fraser Island, this area is now known as Garry. You can see it here on a map. It's on Australia's eastern coast. Very, very popular with tourists. Hundreds of thousands of people go every year. It's also very popular for people to go out early and take photos of the sunrise. According to police, around 6.30 in the morning, so an hour and a half later, two men were driving by when they say that they saw a pack of 10 dingoes that were surrounding something, which they then realized was a woman's body. Police were called and they confirmed that the woman died. At this point, it is unclear, though, how she died. Police have speculated that it's possible that she drowned and her body washed up. But here is a little bit of what we've heard from those local police. They say, quote, I can confirm that the woman's body had been touched and interfered with by the dingoes, but we're not speculating yet as to whether that has anything to do with her cause of death. So unclear at this point how she died. But dingoes often referred to as Australia's wild dog. They are a medium-sized canine. They are fast. They are also strong. And they are a protected species in this part of Australia as well. Hundreds of them roam around. We have reached out to both the RCMP and Global Affairs Canada, asking for more information. At this point, we have not heard anything back, but of course, we will share that with our viewers if and when we do hear anything at this point. But we do know that a 19-year-old Canadian woman has died after something happened on this eastern part of Australia. We know that she had been working at a backpacker's hostel for about six weeks.
