The entrance included a display of classic and military vehicles, honoring Annabelle's father, Lance Corporal Jared McKinney, who was killed in action in 2010.

The formal marked the completion of Annabelle's 12 years of schooling. Battalion members expressed their honor in supporting Annabelle and her family, making the event a memorable tribute to her father's service.

Annabelle McKinney, dressed to the nines, escorted by her late father's mates and mascot Ridgely Blue, the Blue Heeler, from the 6th Battalion. Lance Corporal Jared McKinney was just 28 when he was killed in action during an intense firefight with Taliban insurgents on the morning of August 24, 2010, leaving behind his pregnant wife Becky and Annabelle, who was a toddler at the time. We are deeply bloody privileged and honoured to do this. Jared was a mate or father, battalion mate of mine, and we're just so honoured to do this for Annabelle and her family.
