Winter Storm Alston is expected to bring substantial snowfall to the Midwest, with forecasts indicating 18 to 24 inches possible in some areas due to lake effect snow. Cities such as Duluth and the Twin Cities, which have seen little snow so far this season, are likely to experience heavy accumulation and strong winds.

The rain-snow line is predicted to move through central Minnesota by late afternoon, transitioning rain to snow. By nighttime, snow will extend to Green Bay, accompanied by wind gusts reaching 40 to 50 miles per hour.
