In the town of Sinjar, the Palestinian Health Ministry reported that two men, including a Palestinian American, were killed by settlers in July, and residents say they have been cut off from their land by a high metal fence.

Local officials and human rights groups have expressed skepticism about Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's condemnation of the violence, alleging that authorities have often ignored or supported such attacks. In the town of Sinjar, where the Palestinian Health Ministry says settlers killed two men, including a Palestinian American in July, homes have been attacked and car windows smashed. The town sits behind a high metal fence. Israeli officials say it's to protect a nearby highway from Palestinians throwing rocks and attacking vehicles, though people here say all it's done is cut them off from their land. The town's mayor doesn't believe Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who has condemned the recent violence and called on authorities to go after the perpetrators. No, that's not true.
