Outside, people crowded onto the street in search of safety. Shadman Saqib was in coffee shop when the earthquake hit. I noticed small ripples occurring in the coffee. And next thing you know is, without any warning, there's this massive shake that starts occurring. The chair I was sitting in starts shaking, the table starts shaking, like violently. And I was just stuck there for a good 10 to 15 seconds. I couldn't even process what was going on, right? And I've never felt anything like this in my entire life. To describe it more accurately, I felt like I was sitting on a boat riding this massive wave. And wave after wave just kept coming. And for almost 15 to 20 seconds it lasted. Some building structures made from bamboo collapsed. Emergency teams soon began clearing debris and assessing the damage. I have never felt such a tremor in my 30 years of life. We were at the office when the furniture started shaking. We rushed down the stairs and saw other people already on the road. Dhaka is one of the most densely populated cities in the world. Buildings are tightly packed together. People are still recovering from the shock of the earthquake in the morning. The city is becoming normal. It's tense but calm. Well, the administrative set up a hotline to report any kind of damage, casualties or rescue needs.
