Aid remains insufficient, with essential foods like meat, eggs, and milk unavailable for months, and basic staples such as flour priced beyond the reach of most residents. The UN has described the situation as a 'failure of humanity,' while Israeli officials have rejected the findings, calling them fabricated. Negotiations for the release of hostages and an end to the conflict are ongoing, but military operations in Gaza continue.

The signs were unmistakable. Children too weak to cry, mothers with nothing left to give. For many, far too many children, it's already too late. Now, food insecurity in Gaza has officially reached catastrophic levels. Just when it seems there are no words left to describe the living hell in Gaza, a new word has been added. Famine. Famine is the highest phase of the acute food insecurity scale, an initiative developed by 21 global aid groups. It hasn't ever been reached in any country outside of Africa. Until now. In Gaza City, more than 280,000 people, or 30% of the population, is experiencing famine. By the end of September, the group predicts that famine conditions will spread to central and southern areas too, affecting a total 641,000 people. Despite limited data, conditions in northern Gaza are estimated to be as severe or worse. The UN labelling the situation... The failure of humanity itself. What we have in Gaza right now demands a response on a scale and urgency we have not seen before. How can they recover? Well, the answer is fairly simple. It's being provided therapeutic food that is completely replete with all the nutrients that are needed in ample quantities. Quantities not being met by aid drops or available to purchase. This market in Gaza City has been without meat, eggs and milk for months. What is available is simply too expensive. This man says even flour costs around 70 Australian dollars per kilo. It is a famine openly promoted by some Israeli leaders as a weapon of war. Israel's foreign ministry slammed the findings as a tailor-made, fabricated report to fit Hamas's fake campaign, adding, Benjamin Netanyahu says he's ordered officials to begin immediate negotiations for the release of hostages and an end to the war, but is simultaneously forging ahead with plans to seize Gaza City.
