The plane was not carrying cargo, and all four crew members managed to escape and were rescued. Airport authorities reported that the runway was deemed safe and no distress signals were sent by the pilot. Investigations are ongoing, with authorities awaiting the recovery of the flight's black box to determine the cause of the crash. Police have not ruled out the possibility of a criminal investigation.

The four crew members on board broke open the door and were eventually rescued. Airport authorities say the runway was safe to land and the pilot hadn't sent any distress signals. What happened in the final moments of the doomed flight should become clearer when the black box is recovered. Hong Kong is the world's busiest cargo airport.
