We're working under difficult weather conditions and natural challenges, as the fire is in mountainous areas that are hard to reach with ground firefighting vehicles. However, we're carrying out operations using aircrafts in locations that are inaccessible by land. The Takiyas forests burn nearly every summer, but experts are warning climate change is supercharging the dangers. Authorities in Syria say the causes may be even more complex. The Syrian Ministry of Emergency and Disaster Management is blaming the soaring heat and dry winds, as well as the presence of unexploded bombs and landmines, remnants of years of war. Syria's UN humanitarian coordinator has announced $625,000 in emergency funding to support affected communities.
