President Donald Trump took a field trip Thursday to the U.S. Park Police operations facility in Washington, where he praised his military crackdown on crime and immigration in the city.

Trump indicated plans to seek congressional authorization to extend federal control over the DC police department beyond the current 30-day limit, as well as additional funding for city improvements. However, details about the proposed funding package and the future of the operation remain unclear, and the initiative faces opposition from local DC officials.

President Trump talked a lot about medians, sprinkler systems, curbs, wanting all sorts of things in the Washington D.C. area to be beautified. Again, we don't know what that package is going to look like. We don't know what aesthetic changes might be coming to Washington D.C. And Liz, I hate to be leaving you with more questions than answers, but again, there is a lot left unanswered about President Trump's constant statements that he plans on beautifying D.C. and keeping control of this city over, of course, the objections of the D.C. Council and the mayor of Washington, D.C., Democrat Muriel Bowser.
