President Trump has granted pardons to 77 individuals, including former personal attorney Rudy Giuliani, Sidney Powell, Jenna Ellis, John Eastman, Boris Epstein, and former chief of staff Mark Meadows. These individuals were involved in discussions about challenging the 2020 election results, such as submitting alternate slates of electors and pressuring state legislatures.

The list of pardons was posted by the Justice Department's pardon attorney and signed by the president. The proclamation states it aims to end a 'grave national injustice' following the 2020 election. The pardons do not apply to state charges, and none of those pardoned currently face federal charges, making the action largely symbolic.

Let's jump now to CBS News Chief White House Correspondent Nancy Cordes with more on pardons just issued by President Trump. Nancy, good morning to you. So who did Mr. Trump pardon and why? Basically, anyone, Errol, who served as a personal attorney to the president or a White House attorney during his first term and other top advisors who may have talked to him about ways to subvert the 2020 election results. I'm talking about people who were involved in conversations about submitting alternate slates of electors or involved in conversations about pressuring state legislatures to find votes or change the outcome in their states. And there are some pretty bold-faced names on this list, 77 people in all, including Rudy Giuliani, the former New York City mayor, who was also the president's attorney back then, Sidney Powell, Jenna Ellis, John Eastman, the president's long-term advisor, Boris Epstein, and his former chief of staff, Mark Meadows, are on the list as well. This list was posted overnight by Ed Martin, who is the Justice Department's pardon attorney. It was posted on his personal ex-account. It appears to have been signed by the president on Friday. It's a couple of pages long. And what it says is, quote, this proclamation ends a grave national injustice perpetrated upon the American people following the 2020 presidential election. As you know, Errol, the president continues to argue that the outcome was skewed back in 2020. And because this is a federal pardon, it doesn't apply to any state charges that individuals may have incurred. But none of them are facing currently any federal charges.
