The firings come as the administration is preparing to move forward with several new projects, including a White House ballroom and a triumphal arch near the Lincoln Memorial.

According to the White House, the new board members will be more closely aligned with the president’s 'America first' policies. All recently dismissed members had been appointed during the Biden administration. The White House stated that construction plans for the new projects will be submitted to the appropriate commissions for review.

Well, the timing of this news is certainly raising questions, but Vlad it's actually not without precedent CBS News looked into this and found that former president Biden had actually appointed several members of that Commission During his term. So from what we've gathered all the members who had been recently fired Were appointed during the Biden administration We do have a statement from the White House on the firing saying In part we are preparing to appoint a new slate of members to the Commission that are more aligned with President Trump's quote America first policies now this Commission was established by Congress It's one of several boards in Washington that typically reviews provides comments or feedback And you know potentially approves construction projects in the Capitol We know that it comes of course as the president is moving forward with construction on the massive ballroom here at the White House Which has drawn a lot of scrutiny and backlash from the president's critics And we also know that the White House has said even though it didn't submit plans for you know The demolition of the East Wing it does plan to submit construction plans to a separate Commission That is the National Capital Planning Commission Again a whole separate board if you look at those members Three have been appointed by President Trump and then there are two that are appointed by the mayor of DC
