US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping met in Busan, South Korea, for their first direct talks in six years, aiming to ease ongoing trade tensions between the two countries. During the meeting, both leaders agreed to reduce US tariffs on Chinese goods from 57% to 47%, while China committed not to impose new restrictions on rare earth exports.

The talks also included commitments to cooperate on the situation in Ukraine, though the topic of Taiwan was not discussed. President Trump rated the meeting highly and announced plans for reciprocal visits next year. Meanwhile, President Xi will remain in South Korea for upcoming APEC summits.
