This announcement came during a meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, as Ukraine continues to face heavy drone attacks and territorial losses to Russian forces. 

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has also announced plans to increase domestic arms production, aiming for Ukrainian-made weapons to comprise 50 percent of those used on the front lines. NATO's top European commander confirmed that preparations are underway to deliver an undisclosed number of Patriot weapons to Ukraine, with European nations set to fund the purchase of American arms.

As Russia continues its unrelenting drone attacks into Ukraine, air defence units like this one are tasked with the job of intercepting them. What do you feel like when the drones come at night? The adrenaline kicks in and you want to shoot them down. I'm especially worried about my family, about a drone coming down near them. Sometimes they fly so high that we can't hit them. What's that sound? That is a signal telling us to go to our positions, that we have to get to work. But they are struggling to keep up. Overnight, Wednesday to Thursday, a swarm of at least 64 drones was launched into the territory. Only 36 were shot down. Here in Kriveri, authorities said they experienced the heaviest attack since Russia's full-scale invasion began. One strike caused a fire in an industrial facility, destroying infrastructure and starving parts of the city of electricity. According to locals who were on the scene when the emergency workers arrived. They did a great job. They quickly dismantled everything. Then about an hour and a half later, the second attack began. There was another strike here, but luckily no one was injured. On Thursday, Russia's Ministry of Defence claimed it had taken control of three separate Ukrainian villages. One in southeastern Zaporizhia, one in eastern Kharkiv and one in eastern Donetsk. To give Ukraine greater capacity to push the war back into Russian territory, President Volodymyr Zelensky has announced plans to expand domestic arms production to 50 percent. The task is very specific and clear. Currently, Ukrainian weapons account for about 40 percent of all weapons used on the front lines and in all of our operations. This is significantly more Ukrainian-made weapons than ever before in the history of our independent state. NATO's top European commander has also confirmed that preparations are underway to deliver an undisclosed number of patriot weapons to Ukraine. As part of the deal, the military alliance brokered with the US president for Europe to pay for American arms.
