In addition to Erin, the National Hurricane Center is still keeping an eye on two separate areas in the Atlantic for potential tropical development. Invest 90L, the wave near the Leeward Islands, will likely develop into a tropical depression or storm this weekend.

Meteorologists are closely watching two weather systems in the Atlantic, identified as invest 90L and invest 99L. Invest 90L has a high likelihood of developing into a tropical depression or storm, which would be named Fernand if it strengthens further. This system is projected to move north of the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico, which recently experienced impacts from another storm, and could approach Bermuda in the near future.

Invest 99L, located farther east over the Atlantic, currently has a medium chance of development and is expected to move toward the Lesser Antilles. Both systems are being monitored for potential strengthening and impacts on nearby islands.

Tropical Storm Fernand could develop this weekend

but we do have a couple of other invests that we're keeping an eye on that. The hurricane center has highlighted in their updates as well. So we've got invest 90 L pretty decent chance. In fact, a high chance becoming a depression or a storm. And then right behind that, we've got invest 99 L, which is a little farther out over the Atlantic water. So let's focus on this one. First of all, it's going to go north of the Virgin islands in Puerto Rico. Of course, these islands were just affected by Aaron last weekend with the outer rain bands, even power outages in Puerto Rico. So it's good to see this system going in the northerly direction away from the islands. By the way, the next name on the list is Fernand. And those of you in Bermuda, maybe you're planning a cruise out that way. You definitely need to be keeping tabs on this one because it does look like it gets a little bit closer to the island of Bermuda in the coming days. You can see by Monday, uh, basically, and then into Wednesday of next week, we have it making that pass over Bermuda or just to the east of Bermuda. Then there's this invest 99 L way out over the main development region. This one has, I'll say, medium chance of becoming our next tropical depression or storm not wrapping all the way around. So still an open wave at this time, but it does have a chance of becoming a depression or storm, maybe getting enough away from the wind shear in the coming days, but generally heading toward the lesser Antilles in the next several days.
