From a dark spot, you could see over 100 meteors per hour. The best viewing? After 10pm, before the moon rises. On December 21st, the winter solstice arrives. Winter begins in the Northern Hemisphere, while summer begins in the Southern Hemisphere. It's also the shortest day and longest night of the year. So at that point, we've made it. It only gets better from there. To wrap up the month, the Ursa Meteor Shower is on December 21st into the 22nd. It's smaller than the Geminids, but still magical under those long winter nights.
