Well I just decided it was time for me to get some new music out there to kind of try to pull in the younger generation of music lovers and so we were gathering songs and one day I was rehearsing with my vocal coach and we were doing I Will Survive, rehearsing I Will Survive and it came to the part that says fight a gnome for just one second you get back to bother me and all of a sudden those words just stuck out in my mind, it's like illuminated and I said fight a gnome, fight a gnome. I said to her I have to write a song with fight a gnome, she said if I had known, I said no we're Americans we don't say if I had known, we say fight a gnome. From her beginnings in the 1960s the disco singer has seen her career evolve and the music industry change. It's very different today because you know years ago you'd all be in the studio at least with the rhythm section together, you'd be in the studio with your background singers and you'd have your own mics but you'd still be in the studio together but now you've got one person on the east coast, one person on the west coast and that kind of thing at least with the music. Gaytner rose to fame in 1978 with the hit song I Will Survive but the artist hopes that her most famous work is not the only legacy she leaves. That I have and I'm still fulfilling my purpose which is to bring joy, peace, hope, encouragement and empowerment to people. For Gaytner this latest EP proves one thing, she is thriving not just surviving. For her music making she sees no end in sight.
