The classic rock band is having a moment this summer, with two reissues and its music in the ‘Stranger Things 5’ sneak peek. Rick Damigella reports.

A remix of Deep Purple's 'Child in Time' is featured in the latest teaser for the final season of Stranger Things. The song, originally released in 1970, is the latest in a series of classic tracks used in the show's promotional material, following previous boosts to artists like Kate Bush and Metallica. 

Deep Purple is also experiencing renewed attention with a reissue of their live album 'Made in Japan' and a remixed edition of their 2005 album 'Rapture of the Deep'. The band, which formed in 1968, continues to perform live and is reportedly working on new music.

The music from the latest sneak peek of the final season of Stranger Things is a remix of Deep Purple's Child in Time. Originally released on the 1970 album Deep Purple in Rock, the song is the latest inclusion of an established music artist in the streaming series promotional videos. It's a great, one of their all time great songs, one of the all time great rock songs. And I know Stranger Things have had this effect with Kate Bush and Metallica, not that Metallica really needed much help from Stranger Things, but I'm hoping that it helps a new generation further discover this great band. Deep Purple is having something of a moment this summer. Beyond the Stranger Things remix, the band's legendary live album Made in Japan is getting a massive reissue, along with a remixed edition of its 2005 album Rapture of the Deep. The band is also reportedly working on new music. There's no goodbye yet, and they've probably pretty much made it clear that they're going to keep going as long as they possibly can, and I think that's exciting.
