The offence of manslaughter was of a very high order and the dangerousness of the unlawful act was extreme. The refrigeration mechanic was speeding while running late for work in June 2024. He cut off Rhys who was attempting to merge then stopped in front of him. When Rhys approached his ute he was grabbed by the jumper as Wilkinson accelerated. The offender continued to drag Mr Harding for a few more seconds before letting him go. The offender's ute bounced moving up and over Mr Harding's body. He didn't stop to help as Rhys barely clung to life on the roadway. Judge Conlon sentenced Wilkinson to 16 years in prison. Rhys' family elated. I'm just so happy. The legal system's waking up. Finally they're giving a sentence that is deserving. Road rage is not worth it. The judge wanted to send a strong message that using a vehicle as a weapon will not be tolerated and said a severe punishment was warranted to prevent others from leaving someone for dead. Rhys was a keen kickboxer and after his final fight he gave a road safety message. Do you think he would think justice has been achieved today? I think he was behind it.
