Steve Smith delivered a standout performance in the Big Bash League, scoring a 41-ball century with nine sixes and contributing to a record 32-run over. His decision to retain strike from Babar Azam led to the historic over, though it drew mixed reactions from teammates. 

David Warner also notched his second century of the season, remaining unbeaten on 110, but both his centuries have come in losing causes. The upcoming match between the Sydney Sixers and Brisbane Heat at the Gabba will determine which team advances to the finals, with the loser eliminated from the competition.

He spent the summer playing alongside Steve Smith, now Michael Neeser has one goal, get him out. I'm still brainstorming on that one, he's in unbelievable form, he's a class performer in whatever format he's in. Smith was in vintage touch overnight, smacking nine sixes in an imperious 41 ball century. Not all his team mates were impressed though, Smith refused a single from Babar Azam, keeping the strike for the next over. That over went for 32 runs, the most in BBL history. But that wasn't enough for the Pakistan superstar. I want to hit to the short boundary, I don't want to screw up the first over and I'll look to try and get 30 off that over, I think we got 32 so it's a good result, I'm not sure Babar was too happy with me knocking back that single though. Smith's stunning knock upstaged his old team mate. David Warner's 110 not out was his second century of the season, both have come in losing causes. It's all about the kids and the families this time of the year and obviously for us we want to try and beat the sixes here in the last game of the season so I wanted to try and do everything I could. The sixes and Heat face off at the Gabba tomorrow night, the winner plays finals, while it's season over for the losers. We've put on some really good performances this season, we haven't made it easy but we've got it across the line at home games and we're looking to do the same. James Ingram, 10 News.
