A man armed with a knife caused panic at a Logan food court before being chased out by staff and bystanders. Police later arrested the suspect, who has been denied bail.

An alleged armed intruder entered a food court in Logan City Centre, causing panic among customers and staff. The man, reportedly carrying a large kitchen knife, began throwing chairs before being confronted by staff and bystanders, who worked together to chase him from the premises. 

Police apprehended the 22-year-old suspect, Moosika Olongu, shortly after the incident. He did not appear in court, and his application for bail was denied. No injuries were reported among workers or witnesses, and the community has praised the bravery of those who intervened.

Instead of meals in this Logan City Centre food court, customers were served with mayhem. Yesterday morning, a Red Bank Plains man arrived in the complex through a back door, allegedly armed with a large kitchen knife. It was terrifying. You don't expect to come to a shopping centre and see a fellow running around with a knife. One man is seen on video using a shopping trolley to defend himself as the alleged armed intruder began throwing chairs. Staff nearby from the local stores left into action. As a community, we went outside and stood with the security guard and helped him out. Chasing the 22-year-old out of the centre, CCTV shows them working as a group pursuing him through the car park. You can't really expect a butcher to be scared of a knife. The lad was throwing a chair, like, you get what I mean? Can't bring a chair to a knife fight. Police found him a short time later. Tell us where the knife is, dude. I don't know where it is. You're not going to break my hand, bro. They struggled to get him into the back of a police vehicle. 22-year-old Moosika Olongu didn't appear in court today. His lawyer applied for him to be released on bail. That application was denied. He'll remain locked up until his case returns to court next month. None of the workers or other witnesses at Logan Central were injured and they're thankful for the bravery shown.
