A significant cold air mass is moving into the eastern United States, affecting areas from Boston to Maine, where temperatures have already been low. The cold front is expected to bring subzero wind chills to northern cities such as Duluth and Chicago, while also pushing unusually cold temperatures as far south as central Florida and the Gulf Coast.

Record lows may be set in parts of the deep South, with Miami forecast to drop to 44 degrees and New Orleans expected to reach 38 degrees. After a brief warmup, temperatures are predicted to fall again, resulting in continued cold conditions across much of the region.
