The group first gained attention on social media and were initially arrested after playing 'Swan Lake Cooperative,' a song by exiled rapper Noise MC, who is openly critical of the Russian government.

Band members, including vocalist Diana Loginova and guitarist Alexander Orlov, have received sentences for petty hooliganism and organizing an illegal rally, respectively. Loginova was also fined for performing another anti-Kremlin song. Since their arrests, authorities have cracked down on other buskers supporting Stop Time, leading to further detentions and charges.

The members of the band Stop Time were first arrested earlier this month after performing the popular song Swan Lake Cooperative on a busy street in St. Petersburg. The song they're playing in this clip is by exiled Russian rapper Noise MC, who is openly critical of the Kremlin. It was banned in Russia earlier this year on the grounds it contained hostile, hateful attitudes towards people and promoted violent changes to the foundation of the constitutional order. The song makes no explicit reference to Russian President Vladimir Putin or the conflict in Ukraine. Speaking to reporters ahead of Wednesday's court hearing, the band's 18-year-old vocalist Diana Loginova said Stop Time did not commit many of the things they are charged with. She adds the aim wasn't to discredit the army but to bring music to the masses. Loginova received a 13-day sentence for petty hooliganism on Wednesday. She has already completed a separate 13-day sentence in connection with Noise MC's performance. She was also fined 30,000 rubles or $369 on Tuesday for singing another song by a different anti-Kremlin artist. Alexander Orlov, the group's guitarist, was jailed for 13 days on Wednesday on charges of illegally organising a rally, while the group's drummer Vladislav Ilyontiev is facing a fresh administrative charge. The two have already served short sentence in jail this month. Since their first arrest earlier this month, authorities have cracked down on buskers who have staged performances across Russia in support of them. Several musicians have been arrested and charged with petty crimes.
