Described as a first step, it's unclear whether action could impact next year's opening of the South West Metro. But today spruiking a major build at the end of the line in Bankstown, revealing how this rough sketch from June now looks like this. The future design of the long promised $2 billion hospital. Early construction works will begin next year and we hope to have the hospital up and operating by 2031. What we saw today wasn't new, we saw pretty pictures and a re-announcement. To be built on the current Bankstown TAFE site, students will shift to the nearby Western Sydney University. Rent in the high rise to cost taxpayers $5 million per year. Why waste taxpayers' money, why throw it around like confetti? You've got a fantastic site in Bankstown TAFE there now. You could easily accommodate a hospital, a TAFE and a car park. The local member claims there was no perfect solution. The option was to try and keep the TAFE on this site here but it meant that we couldn't get everything that we needed in the hospital.
