Initial results showed Harrell with an eight-point advantage, but as more ballots have been counted, Wilson has closed the gap to just 1.88 percentage points, with Harrell holding 50.74% and Wilson 48.86% of the vote.

Only about half of the votes have been counted, and political analysts suggest that remaining ballots may favor Wilson due to a progressive-leaning late voter base. Both candidates have focused on key city issues, with Harrell emphasizing public safety and homelessness, and Wilson prioritizing affordable housing and landlord reform. The next update on the vote count is expected with the upcoming ballot drop.

Race for Seattle mayor narrows as votes trickle in

And possibly the race with the most eyes on it is the race for Seattle Mayor. The eight-point lead that incumbent Bruce Harrell had over Katie Wilson is quickly shrinking. FOX 13's Nikki Torres joins us live from the newsroom this morning. Nikki, this is drastically different than the first round of votes counted earlier this week. AJ, good morning. On election night, Bruce Harrell was well in front of Katie Wilson by more than 7%. As of yesterday, Wilson has closed that gap to just 1.88 points. Now keep in mind, however, only around half of the votes turned in have been counted so far. So here is how it all breaks down. This is the third update of election results from the King County Elections Office. You can see Harrell now owns with 50.74% of the vote, while Wilson has 48.86% of the vote. Now this is just with more than 46% of those ballots counted so far. Just days ago, Mayor Bruce Harrell said at his election night watch party that he felt his campaign ran a stronger platform. Harrell went on to say that he feels he is more experienced and qualified for the job. Now the vote count plays out, but I'd rather be where we are than where she is right now. Party that evening, she told us she was feeling good overall, and she took pride in the team of volunteers she had throughout her campaign trail. I'm proud that we ran a clean campaign, criticizing the incumbent's record and policies, but not going after his character, his lifestyle, his family, or his past. While Harrell holds an early lead, a FOX 13 political analyst does note that last minute voters tend to skew progressive. Now this observation would suggest that the majority of the Seattle ballots left to be counted are expected to favor Wilson. Now as you can imagine, this is a very lengthy process in order to make sure that every vote is counted. Before running for office, Wilson was known for co-founding and directing the Transit Riders Union. She's been endorsed by local unions and democratic committees.
