Seattle's new professional women’s hockey team officially has a name: the Seattle Torrent. The announcement was made at the Museum of Pop Culture (MoPOP), unveiling the name, logo, and team identity for the Women’s Hockey League’s newest franchise.

The Professional Women's Hockey League's new Seattle franchise has officially revealed its team name as the Seattle Torrent. The announcement took place at the Museum of Pop Culture in front of season ticket holders, with the team also unveiling a blue 'S' logo that players say complements the branding of the Seattle Kraken.

Goalie Corrin Schroeder highlighted that the name reflects the region's waterways and weather, as well as the team's goal to be relentless and unpredictable. The Seattle Torrent will play their first game on November 21 in Vancouver against the newly named Vancouver Golden Eyes, with their home opener set for November 28 at Climate Pledge Arena.

The Torrent season kicks off on Friday, November 21st in Vancouver against the other expansion team this year. Vancouver announcing their team name today as the Golden Eyes.
