Oscar Piastri's pursuit of the Formula One World Championship faced a setback after he crashed out during the opening lap of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix in Baku. Despite the incident, Piastri confirmed he was unharmed.

Max Verstappen won the race, finishing ahead of George Russell and Carlos Sainz. Lando Norris, Piastri's teammate, finished seventh and was unable to take full advantage of Piastri's early exit. As a result, Piastri's lead in the championship standings has been reduced to 25 points.
